Joan teamed up with her friend Kate and split the cost of their weekly exercise session, at Joan's home. I really enjoyed working with Joan and Kate, they egged each other on, helped keep each other committed, and we all had great fun with these sessions. Sharing training with a friend can be a real boon for motivation and consistency; if it's something that interests you I'm all for it!

Neil's note...
A great many of the people I work with, come to me because it isn't straight-forward for them to just, start exercising, there are often injury concerns that need to be taken into account. Everyone is different and being able to work around and help resolve their unique concerns is key to being a truly "Personal" trainer, in my opinion. So, rest assured, if you're worried about an injury, I can likely help you with that.

Kerry and Mike say...
"We decided to reach out to Neil for some help and advice in setting up a new healthy lifestyle as a couple, as we had made a start but were struggling to make anything stick.  We looked back over the last three years of our life via our Fitbits and realised we were exactly the same weight as we then, so we knew we needed a new approach.  We felt we needed the perspective of a professional, plus a bit of accountability to set us on the right path, that would suit us as individuals but work with us as a couple.
 
Neil set a plan for us without overwhelming us with too much info or too many changes, making it feel natural to fit into our lives.  As a few challenges arose, he was able to equip us with a few simple tools to overcome any challenges that we faced along the way.  We thought we knew a lot about losing weight/getting fit after trying so many things in the past but soon realised that we had overcomplicated the process.  All we needed were a few simple golden nuggets of info that were missing, but crucial to success, and all the fads and “diets” just fell away, allowing us to implement a more natural and flexible approach that now feels like the norm and not a diet.
 
Neil made us realise that you can learn to do things and set new goals if you want, with a bit of work and application, you don’t have to let your age be an excuse.  We now have the confidence that if we want to do something, we just need to use the tools, do it regularly enough to make a change and just let the change happen.  He was able to work with our individual needs and requirements, giving us tailored exercise and health plans, but still make it work for us as a couple.
 
If we could go back in time and give ourselves some advice it would be to ignore all the fads and diets you read about in the papers etc, just keep it simple with a few basic tools to start with and not let the bumps along the way stop us.  We now realise that plateaus and blips are all positive parts of the process and not reasons to go back to the old ways. 
 
Neil has set us up with enthusiasm, solid no-nonsense information.  He is always on hand to answer any questions or look into anything more deeply for us if needed.  So very approachable and friendly/cheery and extremely knowledgeable.  We are now on a path steadily losing weight without being on a faddy diet or unsustainable exercise regime, we are just living our normal life with its ups and downs, hard days and days for celebrations, and would both HIGHLY recommend Neil if you want to start on a new life path of losing weight or getting fit or both.

It was a fantastic opportunity to work with Kerry and Mike together, having a supportive home environment can make a diet change so much easier to follow-through with.
